A collection of classic, but rare, works of local history are here made available to today's general public for the first time. The Classic County Histories Series focuses on books of historical and scholarly merit, which have hitherto only been available in libraries or to collectors. The series is organised by County and launches with Henry Francis Abell's History of Kent (1898) - an engaging and accessible account of Kentish history from the Roman invasions to the early nineteenth century which will appeal to anyone interested in the History of the county. Future publications will include county histories and works on local towns and topics. Additional works on Kent and Herefordshire will soon be added to the list. Anyone who wishes to see a particular local history book back in print is invited to contact The Grimsay Press.
